Po Campo Partners with World Bicycle Relief!

World Bicycle Relief was started in 2005 to meet the relief needs of the Indian Ocean Tsunami. Founders, F.K. Day and Leah Missbach Day, partnered with aid organizations on the ground in Sri Lanka to distribute over 24,000 bicycles to aid the rebuilding of lives by providing access to education and healthcare. WBR was eventually approached by aid organizations to assist volunteer health programs in sub saharan Zambia, where WBR provided bikes to healthcare workers and trained mechanics to maintain and repair bikes as well.

We’re delighted to partner with World Bicycle Relief! With every twenty-five bags sold through our online store, Po Campo will donate the equivalent of one Buffalo Bike, to a schoolgirl in Africa so she will  have the means to bike to and from school.

Po Campo is just so excited to be a part of something as big as the World Bicycle Relief. Our mission to encourage and inspire more women to get on bicycles and chase down their dreams is right inline with WBR’s mission to help schoolgirls in Africa. World Bicycle Relief aims towards “transforming its individuals and their communities through the Power of Bicycles.”  To date, WBR has provided over 125,000 bicycles and trained over 800 field mechanics in the name of its mission. Maria Boustead, founder of Po Campo, explains, “Po Campo has been looking for a charity to partner with to help further our mission for some time. WBR shares our passion for supporting girls in realizing their dreams as well as recognizing the bicycle as the perfect tool for gaining access to new opportunities.”

Po Campo is honored to support WBR and the Power of Bicycles through this partnership. Visit World Bicycle Relief’s website to learn more about the partnership with Po Campo and the ongoing efforts of each to keep people moving.
